Second helicopter crashes in Wajir on the same day

By |

In a series of unfortunate events, two helicopters in Kenya, engaged in separate missions, faced mishaps in Wajir, adding to the challenges posed by the ongoing El Niño floods.

A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) logistics helicopter crashed moments after takeoff in Buna, Wajir North. The cargo plane, dedicated to delivering relief food to flood-affected residents of Buna, faced challenges due to damaged roads from El Nino rains.

Panic swept through Buna as the eagerly awaited relief food distribution turned into chaos. Residents fled in fear as the plane staggered and ultimately crashed.

Halima Abdi, a Buna resident, described the terrifying moment when the plane staggered after takeoff, prompting a scramble for safety among the onlookers.

Details regarding the incident's cause, the number of individuals on board, and their conditions remain unknown. KDF is yet to release an official statement on the matter.

In a separate update, Wajir today witnessed another plane crash, further compounding the recent challenges faced by the region.
